On the run up to to National Storytelling Week next week, we thought we’d get warmed up by looking at ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson.

The children worked alongside Brittany and made a circle with different colored skittles on a round plate. We poured warm water around the skittles and it was like magic! Lovely spirals and circles of colour appeared.
We decided it didn’t work as well with cold water as the warmer water helped the skittles melt and released the colour!

Monday 17th January 2022 was Martin Luther King Jr Day. 🇺🇸
We talked with Erin about the words we use to describe skin colour. We then mixed paint to match our skin, using shades of brown, white, red, yellow, and blue!
This was the basis for our self portraits - we used this project to honour both the many wonderful things that make us different and the pioneering Civil Rights activism of Martin Luther King Jr!
